Photography Itinerary
  • Start your morning off early at Ingall’s Park to catch the sunrise across the Tennesse River.
  • Stop at the Decatur-Morgan County Convention and Visitors Bureau to pick up walking guides.
  • Have breakfast in Historic Old Decatur and then take the walking tour of the area. Good photo opportunities include the Old Cemetery, which dates back to around 1818, the Old State Bank and Decatur’s First Courthouse.
  • Admire the works of fellow artists at the Carnegie Visual Arts Center, which features works from regional, national and international artists. The center is houses in the former Carnegie Library, which was built in 1904.
  • Take the walking tour of New Albany. Good photo opportunities include the 400 Block of Jackson Street, which is the most intact set of late Victorian houses in the Albany Historic District.
  • Have lunch at ALbany Bistro in the Albany Historic District.
  • After lunch, travel to Frazier Park to see the Daikin Japanese Garden, which is a traditional Japanese Tea Garden.
  • Finish off the afternoon at the Givens Wildlife Interpretive Center, the welcome center for the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. The center features a large glass-enclosed observatory overlooking an 18-acre pond. The refuge is home to 304 species of birds and numerous other wildlife.
